The most popular fountain in the world 0
Can one visit Rome without going to the Trevi fountain? You will be missing a lot. Besides being one of the most popular sites in this historical city, it is believed that when one throws a coin, you will surely be back.
I did that more than 30 years ago and had been back perhaps a dozen times, each time memorable and learning something new. December is supposed to be winter time when there would be hardly any tourists however when we visited the area yesterday, it was teeming with crowds, the ones I usually encounter during spring or autumn peak.
I learned something new from our guide yesterday. He said that the statue of Neptune is flanked by two horses, one of the right and and another on the left. One represents volatility of nature and the other calmness. This is supposed to show us that nothing is within our control, and only God has the power over nature and us.The famous fountain was featured in two popular classic films, La Dolce Vita and Roman Holiday.
