Dream come true at the Acropolis 2

acropolis

The Acropolis welcomes us with open arms!

Back in college, my friends and I dreamed of flying to Athens to take a glimpse of the Acropolis. Last week, we were all thrilled to be walking up to see the Parthenon and the Erechtheion with the famous caryatids. We really weren’t alone that sunny day. There seemed to be hundreds of visitors there, as well. We just asked them to stay away while we posed for the camera… not. Thanks to Mesky, it looked like we were the only ones present.

Thanks for the Acropolis dream, Miss Ong

A passionate teacher transported us to that ancient hill. We weren’t perfect students (actually, back then, we were every teacher’s nightmare) but Miss Ong believed in us. Her enthusiasm made the Acropolis come to life! We could see the veins on the columns, the sculptures on the pediments, etc. Our minds were always present during her class.

Move over, caryatids

Time stood still for us that day. We reminisced, we stared at the majesty of the Parthenon, we posed like the caryatids, we breathed in the air of Athens hoping it would make us travel back in time. But time only moved forward and the tour bus didn’t wait for us! We didn’t mind. We had our dream and there was no rushing us.

We will always cherish that day at the Acropolis.
